Welcome!

I am an education professional with more than 20 years of experience supporting diverse learners in inclusive K–12 environments. I am currently completing an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Educational Studies at Ontario Tech University, with an anticipated graduation in July 2026, and I intend to pursue a Master of Education beginning in Fall 2026. My professional goal is to transition into higher education as both an educator and instructional designer, where I can apply my extensive experience in student support, needs analysis, and evidence-informed practice to adult learning contexts.

Throughout my career as an Educational Assistant across two school boards, I have developed strong expertise in student advising, individualized support planning, and small group facilitation. I have conducted ongoing needs assessments, supported the development and implementation of Individual Education Plans, and collaborated with multidisciplinary teams to design targeted interventions that improve student engagement and learning outcomes. My work is grounded in data-informed decision-making, drawing on classroom observation, behavioural tracking, and academic data to continuously refine instructional approaches. I also bring experience mentoring Child and Youth Care students and facilitating structured programming focused on social-emotional learning, communication, and executive functioning.

My practice is guided by core values of equity, accessibility, and learner-centred design. I am committed to creating inclusive learning environments that recognize and respond to diverse learner needs, including those related to disability, culture, and lived experience. I prioritize differentiated instruction, accessible materials, and inclusive communication strategies to ensure all learners have meaningful opportunities to succeed. My approach is further informed by working knowledge of cognitive behavioural and dialectical behaviour strategies, which support student self-regulation, resilience, and engagement.

In addition to my classroom experience, I am developing expertise in instructional design, with a focus on online and blended learning environments. I have experience organizing and structuring courses within Canvas (Instructure), emphasizing clear navigation, alignment between learning outcomes and assessments, and the integration of educational technologies. I am particularly interested in the ethical and effective use of digital tools, including artificial intelligence, to enhance learning while maintaining accessibility and equity.

This portfolio presents my work as an emerging educator and instructional designer. It includes examples of course design, instructional materials, and reflective analysis that demonstrate my commitment to inclusive, evidence-informed practice. Collectively, these artifacts highlight my ability to design and support learning environments that are structured, responsive, and aligned with the needs of diverse learners in both K–12 and higher education contexts.
